Roohband / Rooband or Face Veil used by women in Tadjikistan

The word "Rooh Band " literally means "Shut the Soul in" so that no untoward attention is received by the wearer.The idea is the the beauty of the woman is reserved solely for her husband.

At the position of the eyes there is a net so that the wearer may view the world.

Silk embroidery on cotton. Ikat Borders stitched on.
