Lovely saturated colors on an antique Banjara household item. When women carried pots of water back from the river or well to their homes, the pots were placed on their head and place on this pot cushion. The flap hangs at the back of the head.
Very fine weaving / embroidery and several intriguing patterns. The colors on this piece are outstanding and better than most of the others that I have seen.
Some fraying and losses.
The size of the patch excluding the hanging string and the round piece is 9" x 7".
This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user.Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections. Therefore the condition must be assumed to be “not” perfect. More photos of such imperfections will be provided on request.
