1205 Old Indian Silver Veni Hair Jewelry

Old Indian Silver Veni Hairbun Ornament

Worn over the bun as a dangling accessory

Very popular in the West and the Eastern parts of India. In the West, flowers were woven into stiff "Veni" to wear over the bun instead of the precious metal jewelry.

The  flower Veni custom is followed even today among traditional communties.

The four prongs - soyo pins are tucked into the tight space between the bun and the head and may be used to keep the hair in place. But such an elaborate piece is mainly for ornamental purposes.

Has danglers at both ends.

Heavy.

Estimated to be from the early-mid 1960s
