Beads used in Apatani Tribe Weddings in Arunachal Pradesh

Trade beads used to create these strings.

Most are made of glass beads but one string is made of metal beads

Estimated to be from the early 1970s.

Very rare as this tribe lives in a remote plateau in a remote state in North East India. Reaching this group has been the most difficult journey of my life. Attached are photos of of two Apatani women I met on my journey.

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
