Antique silver opium box.

In the days when soldiers fought battles on foot and horseback and medical facilities were scarce, soldiers carried hafeem / opium paste with them as painkillers in boxes that hung from their belts.

This is a fine example of such boxes carrying medicinal opium.

Age unknown but estimated to be 50-60 years old
