This amazing style of embroidery - called khambeera is practiced in the Kutch and is a close relative of the Kantha stitch.

Created on coarse handspun hand woven cotton this panel is worn over the shoulders by the groom as a Bokani or Bukani.

Estimated to be from the mid 1900s.
