933 Antique Tibetan Buddhist Mala Meditation Beads

$450.00

Antique Prayer beads used by Buddhists

In Tibet and the Himalayan belt, people everywhere either have a prayer wheel or prayer beads in their hands. The constant chanting of Buddha's names or mantras as one counts the beads is meditative and keeps one away from thinking negative thoughts

(This practice is also followed in Hinduism and I have watched my grandmother use wooden beads daily)

108 bone (or maybe kapala)  beads present

Estimated to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s

Tibet

Many beads have been decorated with a metal ring. It appears that many of the beads were decorated with some red / blue clay paste that has now fallen off over decades of usage. Remnants remain in a few beads. .

Age related deterioration / holes

Additional metal (may include some silver content) embellishments that are also worn as separate decorative ornaments.
