Fantastic hand-stitched Baju Kurung open long robe meticulously assembled from patches of Indian Trade textiles called Kain Lelohor or ancestral textile that are mainly block-printed and mordant-dyed chintz dating roughly between 1720 and 1820
These robes were popular trade commodities and prestige wear across maritime Southeast Asia, particularly among Peranakan, Sumatran, and Javanese communities.
Collected in Sumatra, Indonesia.
Triangular fragments of antique Indian Trade textiles have been arranged together to form squares in an aesthetically pleasing way.
An inner lining is present.
