GORGEOUS rare tassels made of camel wool, glass beads and the very rare mini-cowrie shells.
Two separate strands - each containing balls made of camel wool
The Camel wool balls have been arranged together with red, blue, yellow, green & white beads and cowrie shells in a geometric zome arrangement.
These are used by the nomadic herder groups in Rajasthan and Gujarat to decorate their beloved camels.
As these groups get settled slowly, such pieces - made purely for self-consumption and not for commercial sale - are becoming rare.
Note the enthralling beadwork on the buttons! (See closeups photos at the end)
Little did the creator know that so many eyes from all over the world would be looking at her marvelous creation. And YET she made this pouring her soul into her creativity!
Estimated to be from the 1970s
Museum quality masterpiece
