The European Renaissance of the 14th – 17th centuries was a rebirth and cultural movement fueled by the invention of print, that profoundly affected intellectual life.
The Renaissance of the 12th century was a period of the many changes including social, political and economic transformations, and an intellectual revitalization of Western Europe with strong philosophical and scientific roots. [ Wikipedia ]
Did the people who lived at that time call it that? Probably not. Did they realise that they were witnessing a magnificent transformation? Probably not.
In the same way, we probably do not realise that we are living in a New Renaissance driven by the tools of software and hard technology. The technocrats are the genius-artists this time.
Just as it is shown in the film ‘Midnight in Paris’ people of the future will yearn to have been born now, to have lived in this time of revolutionary ideas that are changing the lives even in remote areas. We are probably just at the beginning of the new Renaissance and the best is yet to come!
A fantastic time to be alive.
