Ancient Majapahit Javanese Gold Rings

Ancient Majapahit Javanese Gold Rings

Collection of Tiny Javanese Gold Rings
Found in the Prambanan area, Central Java, Indonesia
7th - 11th Century
One theory is that these are the temple rings mentioned in the Copper Plate Taji Charters of King Balitung of 905 A.D. in which it is mentioned that presents of gold rings decorated with a temple having one jewel at its top - all of fixed weight - were offered to official persons who attended ceremonies.
Another theory is that these are bird rings used to adorn the legs of pet birds in cages.
Until definitive confirmation of the use can be found, we enjoy the beauty of these tiny works of art!
