This set of handwritten panels contains Buddhist sutras or chants.
Accompanying the text is a language of visual musical notation now believed to be extinct. Skillfully handwritten using a brush to create thick and thin strokes at different points in the script.
Tiny inscriptions on the edges written perpendicular to the main text may be the signature of the writer or a reference to the content.

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections. Therefore the condition must be assumed to be “not” perfect. More photos of such imperfections will be provided on request.
