1955 Vintage Nim Suzani Textile Art for Decor

Central Asian Nim Suzani,  Silk embroidery on a cotton foundation.

With striking red floral blooms surrounded by leafy vines in a superb blue on a white background. 

The grace of the vines, the density of the reds and the sparseness makes this a very elegant textile to hang up! 

'Suzani' textile artworks are sometimes seen with chain-stitch embroidery - in my opinion that stitch is not as attractive as the one used in this piece. The stitch used here is dense and flat and feels like a second layer stuck onto the base cloth. The craftsmanship is quite amazing in such pieces.
