Beautiful Indonesian ceremonial cloth called Lau Pahikung

Hand woven on a small loom.

Used as a head or shoulder cloth.

Woven on a small loom, this one is red and gold.

This one has a human form, birds (ostriches) and other creatures.

The spectacular aspect to be notes is the presence of blue and ochre that is absent on the back altogether! A close examination reveals that these two colors are paint / dye and not thread!

Estimated to be from the 1970s and softened by age.

22 by 100 inches / 50 by 250 cm plus fringe.
