Sold to a well-known Antique Textile Collector in Singapore

***

Complete Bridal Silk sari from Banaras with a special blessing for brides woven into the Palloo. Althoug the sari is complete, the condition may be described as fragmentary.

Zari has precious metal content.

Text inscription woven into the Pallo is a blessing of marital bliss for the bride.

Ancestral heirloom piece. Known to be at least 5 generations old.

This piece was acquired from my jeweler and has many tears and splits as silk is a very fragile material. The weight of the zari has put strain on the zari over the years so the condition is not perfect.

Very Rare.

MEASUREMENT : 520cm x 112cm

Pre-1900.

CONDITION : Extremely fragile condition with several splits & tears, especially at the edges. It is not in a condition to be worn. The gold work is in good condition but the silk base damaged in several places is extremely vulnerable. Mounting on silk base is recommended. {last few pictures show the condition issues clearly
