Wovensouls Talk: "Culture & Art of Toraja"

While Ceremonial Toraja Textiles are well-known, the information on their use in actual ceremonies is hard to find.

Even after looking through 6 prestigious books on the subject of Indian Trade Textiles, the traditional use of the 'Ceremonial Textile with a Row of Female Musicians' that is available in museums remained an enigma to me.

And so I embarked upon a field trip, to explorethe actual usage of  textiles in Toraja ceremonies.

At the talk, I share the experiences of discovering amazing textiles being used within the context of Toraja culture.
