Pichvai Painting embodying Jain motifs

Note the cosmological chart in the background behind the Tirthankara figure.

Note the various heavenly deities in the corners and in the field, each that probably has a narrative

Pigment on cotton

Edges have some fraying, corners have faded and there are minor distress spots.

Appears to have been nailed to a frame and later removed.

Age and origin unknown - estimated to be from the mid-late 1900s

Approximately 100 x 75cm
