This AMAZING fine Cambodian silk Ikat Sampot or sarong has unfortunately seen some bad days and is damaged.

Estimated to beí«í_ from the very early 1900s.

The color palette is remarkably unusual and in Gillian Green's extensive thesis I was unable to find any with the pink dye.

The very beautiful green dye is uneven - and is perhaps a result of the way such dyes were created in those days.í«í_ This vignette effect is also seen in the 2-3 partially green pieces in the book.

The overall look when seen from a distance is pink - while in close-ups, the piece looks more green than pink.

Condition is not perfect.í«í_ Considering the difficulties faced by the country, it is amazing that such pieces have survived at all.

Some patches have been added to cover up the big holes.

Some other smaller holes also present. These flaws could be repaired by an expert.

í«í_A plain silk backing and framing will bring out the best of this piece.

Priced considering this damage without which this would be valued in '000s.

All silk. All hand woven.
