Sold to a discerning Antique Art-Lover

***

Painted by Wayan Sudarma - signed - ORIGINALLY priced at $7000 when first sold.

The subject is a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana

The depiction of a man and woman with the serpent wrapped around them is intriguing and suggests a blasphemous scene given the subject of such paintings.

What the artist intended and what the subject really portrays is are both intriquing questions.

Extravagant details present on the costumes of all the people.

The cloth is old and discolored with age - some water stains present.

Estimated to be from the early 1900s.
