2074 Antique Sungkit Sirat Flag Textile

$3,500.00

An exceptional Sungkit Textile

The dealer in the field stated that these were used as banners or flags during headhunting raids.

The books call this Sungkit Sirat and group them with loin cloths.

Given the size of these group of textiles, it is easier to imagine this as a flag / banner than as a loin cloth. More study needed.

Superb Sungkit weaving. Unusual motifs.

Estimated to be from the late 1800s / early 1900s

Borneo

76 cm x 29 cm

EXTREMELY RARE TEXTILE / OF INTEREST TO MUSEUMS
