Animals, flowers & matrix elements scattered wildly across the field.
There are TWO amazing features in this rug:
1) The first is the presence of animals that have strayed away from the field into the two vertical borders.
2) There are several types of filler elements present. This is not unusual. But what IS unusual is the OVERLAP seen of one device over another, in a way such that the device beneath is partially covered and partially visible. Highlighted in the last set of images. In all other rugs that I have seen, motifs are placed side by side and never one on top of another. When there is a space constraint on the edges, motifs have been truncated. But I haven't come across any example in which the space adjustment has been made by placing one element on top of another notionally. Maybe my exposure is limited and that is why I find this unusual. I welcome comments and other examples.
