1682 Terracotta Vase w Dancers & Musicians

Bengal Chandraketugarh Terracotta Vase

This is an Indian terracotta vase decorated with 'Dancing Ladies' one holding a large drum.

Each of the women is wearing fine cloth, with the folds clearly shown.

In addition, they wear ornaments all over their body and hair. Their long hair has been piled up in various styles in a bun.

The neck of the pot has been decorated with swans and flowering plants.

Has damage as can be seen in the photos.

The vase has undergone restoration.

12 x 11 cm

West Bengal, Shunga Period, 1st century b.c. - 1st century AD.

Acquired from a reputed European auction house.
