Quite likely used to keep sandalwood and other sacred items for temple visits
Material of the main body has not been tested and is most probably either Jadeite / Nephrite
The interior is lined with a silver plate on the base and compartmented into 6 cells using silver walls.
The exterior has silver edges that have been carved beautifully in leaf and vine motifs - typical of Iran
Acquired from the Silver Jewelry dealer of a Parsi family that has had this box for several generations.
