Very rarely seen Dhakai Kashida style Kantha Silk embroidery Shawl
Monochrome floral, boteh and vine motifs in an an elegant blue on a beige silk base.
In the 19th century Kashida was produced commercially in Dhaka for export to Basra and Jeddah. Pilgrims would take them to the Haj and Arabs used them as turban cloths or in costume.
The last photo compares this shawl to an antique Kashida example.
Recent production from the turn of the century circa 2000 but so few are made that unless it comes directly from an 'artisan fair' such pieces are hard to source.
