A stunning hand drawn batik made sometime in the 1930s with the workshop signature in the corner.
Tiga negeri means "Three states" and refers to the fact that the cloth was sent to three different towns for the natural dyes (indigo blue, soga brown and mengkudu red).
The workshop name was added so that it would be returned safely home! A real piece of textile history.
Several Butterflies and extremely gracefully drawn birds present.
The color has not been easy to click - the last two photos are a fair representation.
Size: 105 x 240 cms
Estimated to be from the 1930s
