2056 Vintage Batik Tulis about Creating a Batik Artwork
Narrative Batik "Stages of Making Batik"
Cirebonese Wayang Art on a 'self-portrait' type of artwork.
There are roughly 4 vertical panels each of which have about 12 stages of batik crafting. Drawing, heating the wax, dyeing, drying and stamping can be seen. Note that even though the 'stamping' process is shown in four panels, each of the batik creations has a unique pattern. Even though each stage is shown multiple times in the textile, there is some variation - either in the clothes worn or in the batik textile being crafted.
And also the detailed filler flowers.
As this cloth was meant as a sarong, it is meant to be stitched at the edges to form a tube. This is why we see discontinuity at the edges.
The clouds are a marker of Cirebonese batik art.
This is a Batik Tulis artwork - completely hand-drawn
