1361 Superb Laotian Silk Shawl - Weaving Textile Art from Laos

Rich traditional silk with superfine weaving that may be worn as a shawl or used as a wall hanging

Black, Maroon & Beige harmoniously put together.

Motifs beautifully interwoven to create a dense pattern at the ends of the textile.

The number of colors used in the composition directly impact the complexity of the mechanics of weaving it - the more colors used the longer it takes to weave it.

In this elegant textile more than 4 colors including maroon and beige have been used harmoniously

Will be perfect as a wall hanging but was originally meant to be worn as a garment

The only portion of this piece that is not embellished with supplementary weft threads is 23" of black silk in the center, leaving nearly 100" of supplementary weft weaving.

Superb piece.

120 x 18 inches

Estimated to be from the 1970s - 1980s
