Superb wedding shawl that is made for the bride over several years in the same manner as phulkaris.
From the Sindh region.
Silk embroidery on very fine cotton base.
The red is hard to photograph and so variations in shade from deep red to light red are seen because of the silken effect.
The textile is stamped on the reverse by a professional stamper and then the textile is hand embroidered at home by women. See the stamps on the back of the cloth in the last few photos of the back.
Densely embroidered field.
Unusual use of black making it a one-of a kind piece.
Very good condition
76″ X 44″ / 193 cm X 112 cm
