608 SOLD Old Silk Odhana Abochani Embroidered Shawl

Sold to a discerning Antique Art-Lover

***

Stunning White & Red Antique Wedding Textile from Sindh.

Worn as a shawl or Odhana / Abochini and used as a nuptial sheet.

The rosettes are characteristic of the work in that area. The cotton embroidery on fine cotton probably implies that the bride's family was of modest means. But the skill and the art seen in the embroidery are far from modest.

Stained (several stains as seen in the pictures) as this is a nuptial sheet. Some minor damage / repairs.

Soft fragile SILK!

204cm x 144cm
