1039 Section of a Groom's Kediyu - Vintage Rabari Textile Embroidery

Dense embroidery on the shoulder-sleeve area with some mirrorwork.

Once attached but now separated from the plain un-embroidered pleated white lower half that forms part of a kediyu - probably because that portion gets soiled over time. The white is then separated and discarded while the embroidered section is recycled and made into an outfit for a groom of the next generation.

Minor signs of usage to be expected.

Estimated to be from the 1960s-70s

Will look grand when tailor-made into a jacket.

Or framed as wallart.

MUSEUM REFERENCE: A similar kedia (with similar condition issues) from the Debariya Rabari tribe may be seen at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
