Nomadic pieces are very special because they rarely ever reach the commercial market place - they live heartily with their nomadic masters until they can be used no more ....before they are replaced by their frugal masters.
The rustic simplicity and the naive bare authenticity are attractive.
The simple but artistic iron decor hand created most probably by the rural blacksmith on this piece is so appealing! And the softened burnished leather speaks of extended usage and a life well-lived in the Tibetan outdoors - a life that gave it a natural polish!
Inside the pouch is a bundle of lint that tells of times when this was not a decorative collector's item but an object of use that traveled with the nomad.
Closes firmly with a clip.
Finish is rough as this is entirely hand made.
Likely 19th century - Early 20th century
Acquired on a trip to Tibet in 2007
