Antique Himalayan Necklace with Copal, Coral and Turquoise
Astounding quality copal (which is younger natural organic amber) strung into a necklace along with with coral & turquoise.
Estimated to be 18th Century (from the 1700s) or earlier
Acquired after a long discussions with a reluctant dealer that went on for over 6 years (partly because I didn't have the money needed :) )
This piece is absolutely spectacular as those knowledgeable about Amber will probably be able to see instantly.
Perfect for a Museum or Tibetologist
Origin of the Copal is Tibet. Given that at least 25% of the grandmothers & grandfathers in Ladakh can trace back their origins to Tibet, there is an extensive overlap between the culture and traditional art of Ladakh and Tibet. The necklace is most likely strung in Ladakh with amber from Tibet.
