RARE Old Cotton Kanna from the Rajpurohit community of the Thar region  (Thar desert near the border)

Given as a gift to the daughter at her wedding.

Hand embroidered in silk and mirrors.

Such shawls with similar work is also done by the Meghwal community and the Suthar community. This shawl is from the Rajpurohit group.

Has leaf, flower and bird motifs in bright happy colors that are seen across all media in Rajasthan

A lovely geometric central medallion flanked by heavily embroidered end-panel and borders.

Dark blue thick cotton basecloth

Age unknown but estimated to be 30-40 years old

Good condition.
