1263 SOLD Rare Antique Himalayan Silver Ornament Pair - Koma / Kooma from Sikkim

Koma or Kooma that are traditional ornaments worn as pectorals over the coat by the women of Sikkim & Bhutan.

Such ornaments were popular and worn by all during the early to mid1900s

Worn below the shoulders one on each side, the two are linked by a chain than runs around the back of the neck or with the chain forming an additional decorative feature at the front.

On the reverse of each koma is soldered a metal bar tapered to points which bend inwards to form a fastening device.

Also attached on the reverse of each koma is a small ring for the addition of the chain or japtha.

Traditional floral design made in silver gilted with 10K gold. Central stone missing

Estimated to be from the early-mid 1900s
