764 SOLD Vintage Child-Groom's Green Embroidered Kediyu Garment - Rabari Tribe

Rare Green Kediyu or shirt used by the groom at his marriage at the age of 5.

Child marriage was a common practice in the Rabari tribe.

Rare piece.

Dense embroidery on the shoulder-sleeve area with some mirrorwork.

Densely pleated lower half made of cotton.

Some signs of wear, fraying and fading present.

Estimated to be from the 1940s-60s

Will look grand framed and displayed on a wall under lights.

MUSEUM REFERENCE: A similar kedia (with similar condition issues) from the Debariya Rabari tribe may be seen at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.
