5156 SOLD Semi Antique Sind SIndh Thar Embroidery on Handwoven cotton

Sold to a discerning Antique Art-Lover

***

It was not always possible to buy fresh cloth when a new dress was required to be made.

So, the innovative & frugal women of those days, used whatever cloth was available - possible leftovers from previous sewing projects.

In this textile from Sind / Sindh two fine mulmul / muslin patches have been layered together and embroidered upon.

The patch is intended for use as a decorative front on a girl's tunic.

The base cloths as well as most of the embroidery thread are cotton. The white base cloth on the reverse has discolored with age.

Good condition. Will make a perfect framed artwork.

Age unknown but estimated to be from the 1960s-1970s

Condition is as can be seen in the photos.

All handmade.

62CM X 30CM approx
