Rare long Sungkit weaving example
Gorgeous Sungkit woven composition in red and blue on a white base.
The remarkable feature is that even the Pilih weave is seen on one end of the cloth. This is my first sighting of a imixed weave wherein both pilih and sungkit are present.
The pattern seen in the Pilih weave is often seen in baskets and mats of the same origin.
The long format is rare
Late 1800s
Yellowed in a manner that can only come with age
