1959 Antique Iban Dayak Pilih Jacket - Yellow with Porcelain Buttons

A gorgeous yellow pilih woven jacket with porcelain buttons

Lanjak village, Iban people.

Lovely yellow base cloth with two powerful dragon-serpent motifs woven in black and red on the back.

In the olden days turmeric was used as a dye. 

Decorated with white ceramic buttons that provide a nice contrast. 

Has an inner pocket.

Hand stitched to create the form of the jacket.

It has the potential to be mounted and framed with the front and back separated and placed one below the other - against a dark green or maroon background.

Estimated to be from the early 1900s

Some damage present.

50 cm length x 50 cm width (when front is closed)
