Vintage White Trouser Yao Tribal Embroidery Textile Art - Trouser Cuffs

Pair of superfine rare hand-embroidered panels from a Yao group known as the White-trouser Yao in Vietnam

The White Trouser Yao live in Nandan County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. They are known for their unique clothing and adornments. The most unique feature of men's garments is their "white trousers". They are pure white, knee-length knickers, adorned with blue cloth at the end of the trousers.

Ties present at the ends of the cuffs

Hand spun yarn, hand-woven and hand-embroidered

Exquisite neat work on white Cotton base -  with 2 broad bands of geometric motifs and a row of birds all going somewhere in a single file

Note the little red accents

Note also the swastika motif at the end that is often seen in the East and has no connection to the symbolism in the West.

Estimated to be from the early 1970s.

Each is over 115 x 14 cm
