2013 Antique Hand Spun Handwoven Textile Natural Dyes - Ceylon Garment
A rare Sinhalese inner garment that is worn to puff up the pants.
Amazing coarse cotton (maybe some linen content?) with hand spun yarn and hand woven cloth
Stamped and painted with natural dyes
Has a joint along the centre. From the perfect alignment at one end and the slight misalignment of the border at the other end, it is likely that two separate halves are made and then joined together.
320 X 117 cm
Collected on a field visit
Estimated to be from the 1800s
Has a few patches of dye transfer in the white section, signs of usage and wear. Has a few holes and tears
VERY RARE
