Old Fine Berber Sash - HIZAM - Ait Ouaouzguite, Morocco

Early to mid 20th century. Wool.

Exquisite composition of 13 broad and 14 narrow bands interspersed with a deep blue ground.

Superb selvedge stitches in rust, yellow and olive green.

Approximately 180 x 14 cm

You can see a similar piece on page 112 of "African Textiles: Colour and Creativity Across a Continent", by John Gillow.

Has a slit tear and weakening along the length from folding and also some holes.

Priced to sell as is.
