Beautiful Old Kente Cloth from the Ewe people

The presence of the central black band is a unique feature hardly ever seen in Kente Cloths and provides a stunning contrast to the rest of the textile.

Made of interwoven cloth strips

Legend has it that kente was first made by two Akan friends who went hunting in a forest found a spider making its web. The friends stood and watched the spider for two days then returned home and implemented what they had seen.

This piece has lived a hearty life with its creators participating in ceremonies and important life events. Signs of that life are present as imperfections such as stains that can be seen in the photos.
