Large desert shawl used by gypsy tribals of Kutch. Made of heavy hand spun wool. After weaving the fabric on a narrow loom, the piece is tied and dyed to create patterns of dots on two separate pieces as mirror images. These are then attached at the center using the typical embroidery of the region that also uses mirrowork.
This is from the Vagad Rabari group.
Estimated to be from 1970s with some embellishments added later
Good condition overall but may have minor stains/repairs/minor holes as these are textiles that have hearty lives with their owners.
