1549 SOLD Vintage Banjara Hanging Pouch - unusual format

Sold to a discerning Antique Art-Lover

***

One more marvelous work of textile art by the Banjaras!

In this piece, there are two special features that got my attention:

The form which has 4 compartments meant to hang from some higher spot.

Maybe it was meant to be hung from a beam to keep spices safe (and out of reach of children / cats / dogs).

In two pictures I've stuffed in my son's socks (clean) to show it as a container. [socks not included :)]

The other special feature is the variety of stitch & weaving structures (shown in the close-ups) especially the weaving of the central patch.

Probably from the 1970s - 1980s

Although it is not antique, it is an excellent example of a unique household item used by the Banjaras

Excellent condition

[Similar to but much better than 697 sold previously]
