1718 SOLD Antique White Field Caucasian Village Kazak Rug

Fabulous little White Field Village Kazak Rug with Birds & Exquisite Boteh

This is to be seen more as a work art for the walls than as a rug for floor. The unusual boteh motifs and the overall drawing make this weaving stand out amongst Kazak weavings, even after the general character of that group is maintained. The soul of the weavers is infused into this artwork through the inclusion of the two birds / dragons both walking away towards the Eastern horizon...

Soft high pile

Very pleasing naive art in this village rug

Missing lines - minor flaws. Condition is not perfect

Estimated to be from the mid 1800s

Small size 3ft 8 inches x 2 ft 7 inches - perfect as a wall hanging!
