809 SOLD Antique Rare Darshan Dwar / Sainchi Phulkari Bagh textile

Rare  Darshan Dwar Phulkari that also has the character of a Sainchi.

Showcases  both, the temple doors as well as scenes from the daily life in Punjab.

We see 24 (?) humans including endearing girls carrying pots on their heads- some even two!

Further there are 4 people playing the shatranj game board.

We also see everal farm animals and the nosering / jewelry motifs that are commonly seen in Sainchis.

Rare use of black thread that is seen in only about 4 phulkaris in the Wovensouls collection (most likely wool).

Condition is generally good but the base cloth has faded in some parts that were possibly exposed to light over extended periods of time.

Given the age of the textile artwork, some deficiencies must be expected in the form of thread loss, stains, repairs etc.

Age unknown but estimated to be 50-80 years old

Punjab, Undivided India.
