961 Vintage Rabari Embroidery from Kutch Gujarat - Chaakla Pair

Superbly Embroidered Chaaklas, Chaakdas or square decorative patches

Used as wall art in traditional Rabari homes

Cotton base - and most probably all-cotton threads.

Superbly executed extremely dense embroidery that at first-glance could be mistaken for applique or rope-work

Such fine work is no longer made.

Artworks of this quality were usually given as dowry.

Each is about 22inches x 22inches in size

56 x 56 cm approx 

One is slightly bigger than the other. Some tassels incomplete or missing.
