1860 SOLD Old Himalayan Tibetan Necklace - Deer motif

Exquisitely crafted bead necklace with deer motifs

Deer are considered auspicious in the Tibetan culture and free-roaming deer were seen in the grounds surrounding the Potala palace (personal experience, 2007)

Such intricate crafting is usually seen in only important ritual objects.

The beads are heavy and possibly made of copper inners and gilted / plated with Gold

Angled so that it sits perfectly on the neck.

Rare and absolutely gorgeous.

Has signs of usage.

Probably used in Tibet / Probably crafted in Nepal

Estimated to be from the mid-late 1900s

NOTE: This is not made of gold. But the gilting is of high quality and visually looks like gold.
