This fine Perak head dress with an arched edge is said to be from the Changthang / Purang region that is now a part of Western Tibet, China.
Purang women wear two Peraks, one on the head and one on the shoulder each with the flat-shaped hood is preferred.
These Peraks are rare.
Further, this particular Perak is special on three accounts:
- the row of Himalayan amber* at the edge
- the silver ornament at the apex and
- the coral dangles on the sides.
This ancestral heirloom piece is a heavy piece and of unknown age.
Rare
Length not including the silver: 73cm
Width not including the dangles 58cm
*amber, coral & turquoise have not been tested - but appear to be good authentic examples.
