540-A Old Ladakh Mulbeg Perak Headdress with Turquoise

A good example of a Perak from the Mulbeg region of Ladakh

Peraks are headdresses that are now worn only by Buddhist married women. But in the olden days these were worn by all women.

This perak in the hat-like format is from the Wakha Mulbeg region of Ladakh and is distinctly different from the others in Ladakh.

Stuffed with turquoise stones and a silver Ghau, this is a gorgeous piece of Himalayan Jewelry.

Age unknown but estimated to be 50-60 years old

length fully open - 70cm
